Meeting Our Needs
“Our horses are always prepared and eager to enrich the nature experience. Combining the two can significantly improve your peace of mind. Our horses participate voluntarily, making their own decisions in therapy sessions and connecting in the way they deem best. This approach has led to many remarkable experiences for our clients.” – Our Founder, Becky Gregory
These are some of the products and supplements we use to maintain our horses’ health and comfort. Caring for retired racehorses can be costly when they have chronic issues that require constant care.
- One our horses has to wear hoof casts. His feet are delicate and misshapen from wearing shoes at a very young age. The average cost of hoof care for this horse alone is $350 monthly.
- Another horse has seasonal heaves. The supplements and treatments required during the summer are approximately $250 each month.
- Skin problems and hind end soreness trouble one of our horses. He could benefit from some bodywork to increase his comfort. He is content in the pasture with his companions in the meantime.
- Medication to treat ulcers is $350 per one month treatment and an additional $100 a month for continued gut support.
- A retired track champion having run 75 races could also benefit from the assistance of bodywork and addressing his old racing injuries.
- From past training days, swollen glands and body complications trouble a horse that was stressed and emaciated when we got her. Her stress is now gone and she is happy, but there are lingering problems she lives with daily.
- The overall cost of caring for our rescued horses exceeds $2500 a month. We wish to do more for them.
Mentoring and tutoring underprivileged and foster kids is equally as important as making sure our horse rescues are comfortable and happy. We connect kids and horses first and foremost, but we intend to grow and offer other life enriching programs that will enhance their education and give them a chance experience diversity in arts and culture. We have ongoing expenses we must fund in order to keep our program running and help these kids benefit from our horse therapy program.
- Salaries to mentors, tutors, equine instructors and therapists.
- Food to feed the kids while they are at the farm.
- Transportation expenses getting the kids to and from our program.
- Tutoring expenses: books, pencils, paper, art supplies, and general school supplies.
- Program expenses: sports equipment, potential drama program, potential music program.
- Equine equipment: helmets, boots, special equipment for handling the horses, extra facilities such as arenas, round pens, and stalls.
